I made good progress on the eventual theme tonight. Some tricks I picked up from the other sites I’ve built fixed some of the problems I had. The main page is pretty much done. I just have to do the second tier template.
Here’s another drawing. I drew the head first then decided it was good enough to get a body (even if it is a little sloppy…).
I colored it using a wash technique. It worked pretty well.
The Flying Dachshunds are 1-0, beating Fourtyounce 108 to 80.
Was playing around with pens in Photoshop. This was made with a 1-pixel pen with no pressure triggers. I usually use a large pen with size linked to pressure to replicate the play of a nib. It never feels exactly like it should though. Using the fixed 1-pixel size though felt like a ball point pen, which is what I draw (i.e. doodle) with the most.
So I made a nice line drawing and I decided to try to color it. I rarely do it because it never works like I want it to. I could do it in oekaki, but never in Photoshop. This turned out pretty good. I used several layers to build up the color and keep things separate.
And that’s about it.
I drafted in 2nd position. First pick was Adrian Peterson, so with the second, I took Maurice Jones-Drew.
The bulk of the new code is done. I just have to get things styled
I’m redoing my site using WordPress as a CMS. I’ve been using it at work and it’s really powerful, so it will be good to get additional practice in my free time. This also means I’ll get burned out on this new site even more quickly than I got burnt out on the old one!
